តើអ្នកនឹងពណ៌នាអំពីបទពិសោធន៍របស់អ្នកនៅសាលា UWC ដែលអ្នកបានទៅរៀនយ៉ាងដូចម្តេចដែរ?

Question 1: 

How would you describe your experience at the UWC school you attended?

ឧបសគ្គ: ឧបសគ្គជាច្រើនរួមមាន ការប្រើប្រាស់ភាសាទំនាក់ទំនង នឹកផ្ទះ ភាពមិនមានជំនឿលើខ្លួនឯង ភាពភ្ញាក់ផ្អើលនឹងវប្បធម៌ដទៃ អាហារ អត្តសញ្ញាណ ទំនាស់ក្នុងខ្លួន។ល។ ទោះជាយ៉ាងណាក៏ដោយ ខ្ញុំបានរៀនជំនៈលើឧបសគ្គទាំងនោះ ហើយបានរកឃើញនូវបទពិសោធន៍វិជ្ជមានជាច្រើនក្នុងរយៈពេល ២ ឆ្នាំបន្ទាប់។ 

ការស្វែងរកខ្លួនឯង: ខ្ញុំបានរៀនពីឧបសគ្គទាំងអស់នោះ ហើយវាបានធ្វើឲ្យខ្ញុំស្វែងរកឃើញនូវភាពខ្លាំងនិងភាពខ្សោយរបស់ខ្លួនឯងជាច្រើន ហើយក៏បានពង្រឹកពីភាពខ្លាំងនិងអភិវឌ្ឍបន្ថែមនូវភាពខ្សោយទាំងនោះ។ 

ការកំសាន្ត និង ភាពរីករាយ: អនុស្សាវរីយ៍សប្បាយរីករាយដែលខ្ញុំមាននៅ UWC គឺលើសពីឧបសគ្គដែលបានរាប់រៀបរាប់កន្លងមកទៅទៀត។ មិត្តភក្តិរបស់ខ្ញុំនិងខ្ញុំបានសាងនូវភាពសប្បាយរីករាយនិងអនុស្សាវរីយ៍ល្អៗជាមួយគ្នាយ៉ាងច្រើនដែលមិនអាចបំភ្លេចបានក្នុងមួយជីវិតរបស់ពួកយើង។ ពួកយើងបានរៀនជាមួយគ្នា ធ្វើការងារសង្គមជាមួយគ្នា ហើយក៏មានចំណាយពេលសប្បាយរីករាយជាមួយគ្នាជាច្រើនដែរ។ ពួកយើងមើលរឿងជុំគ្នា លេងល្បែងកំសាន្ត និងជប់លៀងជុំគ្នា។ ពួកយើងក៏បានធ្វើម្ហូបពីប្រទេសផ្សេងជាច្រើនជាមួយគ្នា ធ្វើដំណើរផ្សងព្រង ច្រៀងនិងសម្តែងជុំវិញភ្នក់ភ្លើងរាំជាមួយនឹងបទភ្លេងចម្រុះជាតិសាសន៍ឬក៏និយាយលេងជុំគ្នាពេញមួយយប់តែម្តង។ 

Challenging: The challenges include but are not limited to the language barrier, homesickness, insecurity, culture shocks, foods, identity crisis, self-conflict, etc. However, I have learned to limit/overcome these and found myself in a more positive experience later on during the two years.

Self-discovery: I learned that all the challenges had allowed me to discover different strengths and weaknesses that I had posed and also how to increase the strengths and improve the weaknesses.

Fun & Joy: The fun and joy that I had at UWC outweighed all the aforementioned challenges. My friend and I had so much fun and many good memories that we would never forget in our lifetime. Together, we learned, attended social services, and spent fun time with each other. We watched many movies, played many board games, and had great parties. We cooked foods from around the world, went on overnight expeditions, sang and performed in a bonfire, danced to a mix of world music, or just simply talked all night.

តើអ្នកបានរៀនអ្វីខ្លះអំពីខ្លួនអ្នក និងពិភពលោកជុំវិញអ្នកអំឡុងពេល និងក្រោយ UWC?

Question 2: 

What did you learn about yourself and the world around you during and after UWC?

• កំឡុងពេលរៀននៅ UWC:  

ទោះបីជាពួកយើងមកពីប្រទេស និងមានប្រវត្តិ និងបទពិសោធន៍ជីវិតផ្សេងៗគ្នាក៏ដោយ ខ្ញុំយល់ឃើញថាសិស្សរួមសាលាដែលទទួលរងនូវការលំបាកស្រដៀងៗគ្នានោះគឺភាគច្រើនជាសិស្សដែលមកពីប្រទេសដែលបានឆ្លងកាត់នូវសង្គ្រាម អំពើពុករលួយ អំពើផ្តាច់ការ ភាពអយុត្តិធម៌ មានបញ្ហាយេនឌ័រ ការជ្រៀតជ្រែកពីប្រទេសខាងក្រៅ អំពើហិង្សាក្នុងគ្រួសារ ។ល។ ទោះជាយ៉ាងណាក៏ដោយ ពួកយើងក៏នៅតែបានចែករំលែកពីសេចក្តីស្រឡាញ់នៃវប្បធម៌ ប្រទេសជាតិរបស់យើង និងសេចក្តីស្រឡាញ់ចំពោះពិភពលោកដែលពោរពេញដោយសន្តិភាពនិងការរួបរួមគ្នា។ 

ខ្ញុំចាប់ផ្តើមដឹងខ្លួនថា ពីមុនខ្ញុំដឹងពីវប្បធម៌ដទៃ សង្គម និង ពិភពលោកទាំងមូលតិចតួចណាស់ ហើយខ្ញុំពិតជាមានសំណាងណាស់ដែលបានទទួលដឹងពីរឿងទាំងនេះតាមរយៈ UWC។ ជាឧទាហរណ៍ រឿងដ៏អាម៉ាស់បំផុតដែលខ្ញុំបានធ្វើឆ្នាំដំបូងរបស់ខ្ញុំនៅ UWC (2006) ដោយនិយាយលេងសើចជាមួយមិត្តភ័ក្តប្រុសរបស់ខ្ញុំដោយហៅគាត់ថា "ខ្ទើយ"។ នៅពេលនោះ ទោះបីជាខ្ញុំមិនមានបំណងចង់ធ្វើឱ្យគាត់ឈឺចាប់​ ខ្ញុំចង់ឱ្យខ្ញុំដឹងខ្លួនថាវាខុស និងវាប៉ះពាល់អារម្មណ៏គាត់ប៉ុណ្ណា។

ខ្ញុំផ្ទាល់បានពង្រឹងសមត្ថភាពទាំងផ្នែកសិក្សា និងសង្គម។ ខ្ញុំ​បាន​រក​ឃើញ​វិធី​រៀន​សូត្រ​ថ្មី និង​ប្រសើរ​បើ​ធៀប​នឹង​អ្វី​ដែល​ខ្ញុំ​ធ្លាប់​រៀន​នៅ​កម្ពុជា។ ជាឧទាហរណ៍ ការរៀនមិនមែនជាដំណើរមួយផ្លូវដែលចេញពីគ្រូតាមរយៈការផ្តល់សម្ភារៈសិក្សាដល់សិស្សជារៀងរាល់ថ្ងៃទេ ប៉ុន្តែវាជាដំណើរពីរផ្លូវដែលរាប់បញ្ចូលការឆ្លើយតប ការសន្ទនានិងការពិភាក្សារវាងសិស្សៗនិងគ្រូ​  ដោយសារកត្តាទាំងនេះមានសារៈសំខាន់នៅក្នុងដំណើរការសិក្សាទាំងមូល។ ខ្ញុំបានសិក្សាពីសារៈសំខាន់នៃការស្រាវជ្រាវ និងប្រភពយោង ព្រមទាំងភស្តុតាងដែលអាចទុកចិត្តបានសំរាប់ប្រើក្នុងសេចក្តីថ្លែងការណ៍ណាមួយនៅក្នុងអត្ថបទសិក្សា និងការពិភាក្សារវាងបុគ្គល។

• ពេលរៀនចប់ពី UWC:

ខ្ញុំបានយល់ដឹងថាបទពិសោធន៍ UWC របស់ខ្ញុំពិសេសនិងមានតម្លៃប៉ុណ្ណានៅក្នុងបទពិសោធន៍ជីវិតពិត។ ជាឧទាហរណ៍ ខ្ញុំផ្ទាល់មានអារម្មណ៍ថា ខ្ញុំបានក្លាយជាពលរដ្ឋពិភពលោកមួយរូប តាមរបៀបដែលខ្ញុំបើកចិត្តទូលាយ និងទទួលរៀននិងស្គាល់វប្បធម៌ និងមនុស្សផ្សេងៗគ្នាជុំវិញពិភពលោក។ ខ្ញុំ​បាន​ត្រៀម​ខ្លួន​ជា​ស្រេច ​ហើយ​មាន​ទំនុក​ចិត្ត​ជាមួយ​នឹង​សមត្ថភាព​របស់​ខ្ញុំ​ក្នុង​ការ​ចូល​រួម និង​សហការ​ជាមួយ​មនុស្ស​មក​ពី​ជុំវិញ​ពិភពលោក។

ខ្ញុំយល់ឃើញថាខ្ញុំមានមោទនភាពជាមួយនឹងបទពិសោធន៍ UWC របស់ខ្ញុំ ហើយខ្ញុំបានចែករំលែករឿងរ៉ាវ និងបទពិសោធន៍របស់ខ្ញុំនៅ UWC ជាមួយមនុស្សថ្មីៗជាច្រើនជាញឹកញាប់ ហើយខ្ញុំជឿថាខ្ញុំបានបំផុសគំនិតពួកគេខ្លះឱ្យស្វែងរកបទពិសោធន៍ស្រដៀងគ្នាដោយដាក់ពាក្យទៅ UWC ។

ខ្ញុំមានអារម្មណ៍ថាមានទំនួលខុសត្រូវក្នុងនាមជាពលរដ្ឋពិភពលោកក្នុងការតស៊ូដើម្បីជនទន់ខ្សោយ និងជនងាយរងគ្រោះ មិនត្រឹមតែនៅក្នុងសហគមន៍និងប្រទេសរបស់ខ្ញុំប៉ុណ្ណោះទេ ប៉ុន្តែនៅគ្រប់ទីកន្លែងក្នុងពិភពលោក។ ខ្ញុំបានរកឃើញថាខ្លួនខ្ញុំយកចិត្តទុកដាក់កាន់តែច្រើន និងកាន់តែសកម្មអំពីបញ្ហាសកលជុំវិញពិភពលោក ដែលខ្ញុំមិនដែលគិតថាខ្ញុំនឹងយល់និងដឹងថាខ្ញុំអាចធ្វើអ្វីបានអំពីបញ្ហានេះ។

• During UWC:

Despite coming from different backgrounds, life experiences, and unique stories, I found many fellow UWC students who share similar struggles including living in a country that was affected by wars, corruptions, dictatorships, injustice, gender inequality, wealth inequality, foreign invasion, domestic violence, etc. However, we also share a similar love of our culture, country, and a world that is full of peace and harmony. 

I found out quite early how little I knew about different cultures, societies, and the world as a whole and how lucky I was to be exposed to all these experiences. For instance, one of the most embarrassing and ignorant things that I did my first year at UWC (2006), and I wished someone would set me straight, was making a joke by teasing a male friend of mine as “gay”. At the time, despite any intention of hurting or ever thinking less of an LGBTQ person, I wish I knew how wrong and hurtful this could be.

I personally improved both academically and socially. I found new and improved ways of learning compared to what I was used to in Cambodia. For instance, learning is not one-directional where teachers just feed learning materials to students every day but it is two-directional where students’ inputs, responses, and discussion are as important in the process of learning. I had learned the importance of researching and referencing reliable sources and evidence in any statements for both academic essays and interpersonal discussions. 

• After UWC:

I learned quite early how unique and valuable my UWC experience is in real life experience. For instance, I personally felt that I had become a world citizen in the way that I am more open-minded and familiar with different cultures and people around the world. I was ready and confident with my ability to get along and collaboratively with people from around the world. 

I found that I feel proud with my UWC experience and more often than not that I had shared my story and experience at UWC with many new people and  I believed I had inspired some of them to seek similar experience by applying to UWC.

I felt the responsibility as a world citizen to fight for the weak and the vulnerable not only in my community and country but anywhere in the world. I found myself caring more and becoming more proactive about global issues around the world that I never thought I would understand and knew I could do anything about it.

ហេតុអ្វីយុវជនកម្ពុជាគួរដាក់ពាក្យសុំអាហារូបករណ៍ UWC?

Question 3: 

Why should young Cambodians apply for the UWC Scholarships?

បេសកកម្ម និងគុណតម្លៃ UWC៖ "ធ្វើឱ្យការអប់រំជាកម្លាំងដើម្បីបង្រួបបង្រួមមនុស្សជាតិ និងវប្បធម៌ដើម្បីសន្តិភាព និងអនាគតប្រកបដោយចីរភាព"។ ការទៅសិក្សានៅសាលា UWC មិនត្រឹមតែសម្រាប់ការអប់រំប៉ុណ្ណោះទេ ថែមទាំងមានឱកាសបានរៀនរស់នៅ និងបង្កើតសន្តិភាពជាមួយមនុស្សមកពីវប្បធម៌ និងប្រវត្តិផ្សេងៗគ្នា តាមរយៈការចែករំលែកវប្បធម៌ និងបទពិសោធន៍ផ្ទាល់ខ្លួន។

ការអប់រំលំដាប់ពិភពលោក៖ សាលារៀនផ្តល់នូវកម្មវិធីសិក្សាអន្តរជាតិ (IB) ដែលត្រូវបានទទួលស្គាល់/ពេញចិត្តដោយមហាវិទ្យាល័យ/សាកលវិទ្យាល័យជាច្រើនជុំវិញពិភពលោក។ កម្មវិធីនេះផ្តល់នូវមូលដ្ឋានគ្រឹះដ៏ល្អសម្រាប់ត្រៀមបន្តទៅរៀននៅមហាវិទ្យាល័យ/សកលវិទ្យាល័យទាំងផ្នែកសិក្សា និងកម្មវិធីសិក្សាបន្ថែម។

UWC Mission and Values: “makes education a force to unite people, nations, and cultures for peace and a sustainable future”. Going to the UWC is not only for education but also for learning to live and create peace with people from different cultures and backgrounds through sharing one's own cultures and experiences.

World-Class Education: The schools provide an International Baccalaureate (IB) program that is accepted/preferred by many colleges/universities around the world. The program provides a good foundation for colleges/universities in both academic and extracurricular.

Merit-Based scholarships and its rigorous/fair selection process: The process of selecting students for the UWC Scholarships are designed to be fair and entirely based on individual true merit but not wealth or connection. There are multiple rounds of the selection process that will provide opportunities for candidates to learn more about the UWC scholarships and as well as provide opportunities for the committees to carefully examine the qualities of the candidates to ensure the fairness and credibility of the selection process.
