How would you describe your experience at the UWC school you attended?

រយៈពេលពីរឆ្នាំនៅ សាលា UWC Pearson គឺជារយៈពេលកែប្រែដ៏អស្ចារ្យសំរាប់ខ្ញុំទាំងផ្ទាល់ខ្លួន និង ការសិក្សា។ ខ្ញុំទទួលបានបទពិសោធន៍ក្នុងថ្នាក់រៀនដែលមានការផ្លាស់ប្តូរយោបល់គ្នា មានការអនុវត្តប្រកប ដោយបញ្ញា ។ ខ្ញុំបានរៀនជាមួយគ្រូល្អៗ និង យកចិត្តទុកដាក់ខ្ពស់លើសិស្ស។ ខ្ញុំបានស្គាល់ និងរាប់អានមិត្តល្អ ជាច្រើនដែលមានចេះបើកចិត្តគំនិតទូលំទូលាយ ពីជុំវិញពិភពលោក។ បទពិសោធន៍នៅ Pearson បានបង្រៀនខ្ញុំឲ្យចេះគិតសំរាប់ខ្លួនឯង និងហ៊ាននិយាយលើកឡើងពីគំនិតផ្ទាល់ខ្លួន បើទោះបីជាទស្សនៈខ្មែរ ពីដើមហាមមិនឲ្យស្រ្តីបញ្ចេញពីយោបល់ខ្លួននោះឡើយ។ ខ្ញុំពិតមិនអាចធ្វើអ្វីដែលខ្ញុំបានធ្វើកន្លងមក ហើយ ទទួលបានបទពិសោធន៍ដែលខ្ញុំទទួលបានកន្លងមក ប្រសិនបើខ្ញុំមិនបានរៀននៅសាលា Pearson រយៈពេល ២ឆ្នាំមកនេះ។

The 2 years at Pearson was an incredibly transformative period for me academically and personally. I got to experience classrooms that were interactive, practical, and intellectual. I had many amazing and caring teachers. Personally, I got to meet and be friends with some wonderful and open-minded friends from all over the world. The Pearson experience taught me to think for myself and speak out despite the Khmer traditional views that women should not speak their minds. I wouldn’t be able to do what I do and get the experience I did if it wasn’t for these two years at Pearson College.

តើអ្នកបានរៀនអ្វីខ្លះអំពីខ្លួនអ្នក និងពិភពលោកជុំវិញអ្នកអំឡុងពេល និងក្រោយ UWC?

Question 2: 

What did you learn about yourself and the world around you during and after UWC?

ខ្ញុំចាប់ផ្តើមចេះមានភាពក្លាហានក្នុងការបញ្ចេញមតិយោបល់ និង តម្លៃរបស់ខ្ញុំបើទោះជាភាសាអង់គ្លេសរបស់ ខ្ញុំមានកំរិតតិចតួចក៏ដោយ។ ខ្ញុំមិនបានដឹងថា ខ្ញុំមានសមត្ថភាពសម្របខ្លួន និង រៀនបានលឿនទាំងក្នុងថ្នាក់ និងខាងក្រៅ។ ដោយសារតែថ្នាក់រៀនរបស់ខ្ញុំមានសិស្សពីច្រើនជាតិសាសន៍ ហើយសុទ្ធតែមានប្រវត្តិផ្សេងៗ គ្នា ខ្ញុំចាប់ផ្តើមយល់ពីទស្សនៈដូច និងខុសគ្នាជាច្រើន។ អ្វីដែលខ្ញុំទទួលបានពីបទពិសោធន៍នេះគឺថា ប្រសិនបើអ្នកចេះបើកចិត្តឲ្យទូលាយ ហើយមានគំនិតចង់រីកចំរើន នោះអ្នកនឹងអាចរីកចំរើន និង ស្វែងរកផ្លូវរបស់ អ្នកក្នុងពិភពលោកមួយនេះ។

I learned to be more comfortable expressing my view and values and despite the little English I knew. I didn’t know that I had the ability to adjust and learn so quickly in classes and outside. Because of the many cultures and backgrounds in my classes, I got to understand many same and different perspectives. It was what motivated me to apply to a liberal arts college afterward. What I got out of this experience was that if you are open-minded and want to grow, you will grow and find your way in this world.

Question 3: 

Why should young Cambodians apply for the UWC Scholarships?

ប្រសិនបើអ្នកជាមនុស្សចង់ចេះចង់ដឹងច្រើន ហើយបើកចិត្តទូលាយក្នុងការរៀនអ្វីថ្មឺៗ និង ការគិតបែបថ្មីៗ ខ្ញុំពិតជាលើកទឹកចិត្តអោយអ្នកដាក់ពាក្យសំរាប់អាហារូបករណ៍នេះ។ អ្នកនឹងទទួលបានបទពិសោធន៍នៃការអប់រំ និងការរស់នៅ ដែលប្លែកពីអ្វីដែលអ្នកធ្លាប់បានទទួលកន្លងមកនៅតាមវិទ្យាល័យក្នុងប្រទេសខ្មែរ។ អាទិភាពរបស់អ្នកអាចប្រែប្រួល ប៉ុន្តែសំរាប់ភាពប្រសើរឡើង។

If you are curious and open to learning new things and new ways of thinking, I would strongly recommend applying for this Scholarship. You will experience education and living that are completely different from what you experience in a Cambodian high school. Your priority might change but for the better.
